Through Local Laws 29 and 33 of 2015, Mealy strengthened the NYC Commission on Human Rights by mandating employment discrimination investigation and regular reporting.

As former Chair of the Contracts Committee, she has pursued oversight of public spending, promoting local hiring, affordable housing, and union jobs in Brooklyn.
